Soon there will be elections in Belgium. From wieni came the question if we would be willing to make an app for a political party.
Depends on which political party of course… I had some discussions with my wife. For me, there was one party that was immediately eliminated: Vlaams Belang, the extreme right party. For my wife this veto also extended to NVA, the Flemish Nationalistic party.
We had not expected the final question to be… for the communist party. I must admit I had my doubts. I would not vote for them, they are far from my favorite party. But I accepted to do the job.
In the end it is a simple web app, wrapped in a native app.
The most complicated part was getting things through review. There is a Dutch app and a French app, which are made from exactly the same code base. But they were often rejected for different reasons.
Also, it was another good occasion to spend some time with WkWebView. We’re almost friends now.
